On Monday April 15, 2024 our dear Aunt Barbara C. Kline (age 88) departed this world after a brief hospitalization. Michael Oates her nephew, his wife Lucinda, Patricia Mathews her niece and her husband Richard were by her bedside when she died. Barbara was a resident at Riderwood Village, Silver Spring, Maryland. She was born in Quincy, Massachusetts on March 25, 1936 and was the youngest of six children of Joseph E. and Grace M. (O’Connor) Kline. Her siblings Grace Marion Kline, Marjorie Ruth McClure, Mary Josephine Oates, Hugh Edward Kline, and Patricia Lucille Boepple all preceded her in death.
Barbara graduated from St. Patrick’s Academy, Washington DC, in 1954 and worked briefly for the CIA before starting a long career as a legal secretary. She received a Para-Legal Studies Certificate from Maryland University. Barbara lived most of her life with her parents and later in life with her sisters Grace and Mary. She was a very private person and never married. She was creative and enjoyed putting together scrapbooks for her friends and family, cooking and playing bridge. She loved the beach and spent many happy times there with her sisters at their condominium in Rehoboth Beach, DE. While a resident of Riderwood Village she loved volunteering for creative projects, especially the “Love Notes” who made greeting cards for Riderwood residents who were in assisted living and the nursing home.
Barbara was laid to rest at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Washington DC in a private ceremony next to her sister Grace. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
