Alice Mae Strakal, age 90, of Berwyn Heights, Maryland went to the Lord on Thursday, June 9, 2016. She was greeted in heaven by her companion of 22 years, Daniel Slocum, her parents, Guy & Bertha Stuck, her siblings, Marcella, Billy, Lucille and Kenneth.
She was the mother of Carolyn Raye Provience & Dolly Hickman of Brighton, Colorado, John Michael Strakal of Berwyn Heights, Maryland and Rita Lynn & husband Barry Taylor of Edgewater, Maryland and Karla Dorman Kimble of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania.
She had four grandchildren, Kathy (Mike), Chuck, Thomas and Garrett, two great-grandchildren, Kristoffer and Gabriel and a great-great grandson, Theodore Michael.
She was also survived by her youngest brother; Marvin (Margaret) Stuck of Masontown, West Virginia her children’s father Joseph E Strakal of West Virginia and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was not only a devoted mother to her three children; she also cared for twenty-two foster girls.
She was supportive & active in her community and always willing to lend a hand. With such a kind heart and open arms she was loved by all who knew her and was considered the neighborhood mom.
She was born August 13, 1925 in Reedsville, West Virginia and grew up on a farm in Masontown, West Virginia.
She moved to Maryland in the 1960’s. Before that she was a factory worker and then an electronic technician.
She loved crocheting, sewing and painting.
She died peacefully with her family by her side.
