Amanda Taylor Hopkins

August 29, 1988 — June 5, 2015

Amanda Taylor Hopkins was born August 29, 1988 at Columbia Hospital for women in Washington, D.C.  She grew up in Mt. Rainier and Beltsville, MD but always called Kentucky home.  Amanda was educated at St. Mark’s Catholic School in Adelphi, MD from Pre-K to 8 th grade.  She graduated from High Point High School in 2006 and was an active member of their choir for 4 years, which was under the direction of Ned Lewis.  The choir competed in National competitions in Atlanta, GA, NYC and won a national competition in Orlando, FL.  She attended Bowie State University, Teest College of Technology and Howard Community College.  She was a Certified Nursing Assistant and Certified Medication Technician.  She enjoyed supporting and serving people as a Direct Support Professional for My Own Place, Inc.    Music was Amanda’s heartbeat.  Her nephew & niece, Elijah & Mariah, were her joy and the true light of her life.   The love for her brother Christopher Hopkins was deep and unconditional.  Her sister-in-law, Jessica Hopkins, was a true sister in every way.   Her love for her Dad, Milton Hopkins and her mom, Kim Scott-Hopkins, was beyond measure.  They taught her how to love deeply and treated all friends as family.  The love and support of Meme, aunts, uncles and cousins made her love boldly and with her whole spirit.  She departed on June 5, 2015 surrounded by family and friends.  She is joined in heaven with Granny and Granddad Hopkins and Poppie Scott.
