Angela Nancy Celentano, better know as “Ma” was a woman with a heart of gold. Always smiling, kind, caring, warm and so selflessly giving of herself. You could never visit her and leave empty handed. Whether it be a meal she would send home with you or something she found while out shopping. She was born in Washington, D.C. on January 29,1927, to Lucia & Rosario Guglielmino. She grew up in Washington, D.C. and later moved to Adelphi, Md. In her early life she worked at the Navy yard in Washington, DC. On April 26, 1959 she married Giuseppe Celentano, they would fiercely and unconditionally love one another, everyday of their marriage. In July of 1967, they welcomed their one and only child into their life, Adele. They would enjoy time with family and friends in Shady Side, MD. In the late 70’s and early 80’s she worked in the administrative office of St. Marks school and church. In August of 86’ Heather was born and Angela became a grandmother for the first time. Heather was blessed to live her day to day life with the involvement and support of Ma. They would cook together, go to the movies, run errands and one year they got to spend the summer at the beach with Giuseppe. Lots of mini golf was played that summer. In October of 95’, Giuseppe passed away. In 96’ she gained a son, as she’d like to say. Adele married Marc Sparacino and they went on to have 3 children, Brian (99’), Adam(01’) and Juli (06’). She didn’t live far from them and they would visit each other frequently. Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter were always spent at Ma’s house. She made Delicious meals for every holiday and occasion, cooking was one of the many things she was so very good at, as well as “mending” (sewing) anything you could imagine from socks to patching holes in jeans, she would “fix” any plant or garden you thought was unfixable and always fed the birds in her back yard. As she grew older she was still very active and no one could stop her. She became ill in 2015 and she did slow down some. She went to a rehab facility to gain back her strength and independence. After her stay there, she went to live with Adele, Marc and their family. She was still very spunky and would cook from time to time, continue to occasionally sew and enjoyed watching her favorite shows. Marc and Adele would care for Ma daily. However, she was very fond of one of the nurses aids from rehab facility, Esther. She was contacted and agreed to come to the house to help care for Ma. Soon she became family and loved Ma as much as she loved Esther. As Ma’s care became more involved, so did the care that Esther provided. She loved and took the utmost care of Ma up until she passed. Ma became everyone’s “Ma” no matter who you were or how long she’d known you, you would come into her life as a stranger and leave as family.
