Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, godmother, friend, Ann Moriarty, age 80 of Greenbelt, Maryland passed away surrounded by family at her daughter’s home in Herndon, Virginia on June 13th, 2015. Born in Dublin, Ireland to Patrick and Maggie Kerfoot, Ann moved to the United States in 1956 to marry Patrick Lawless. Together they had two young children, Colleen and Michael before Ann became a widow and working mother in Erie, PA. In 1963, Ann wed Leonard Moriarty. Leonard adopted Colleen and Michael. Shortly thereafter, Kerry, Brendan and Noreen joined the Moriarty family in Greenbelt, MD. Ann was a volunteer at her children’s school, St. Hugh’s in Greenbelt. Later, she became a valued employee at the University of Maryland Terrapin Shop where she continued to work for more than 20 years. Ann was also an avid volunteer at St. Hugh’s Catholic Church. She was a member of the Ladies of Charity and a regular volunteer at the Food Pantry. Ann was predeceased by her daughter, Colleen Wagner, and her brothers Andy, Richard, and Paddy Kerfoot. She is survived by her beloved husband, Len; son Michael and his wife Julie; daughter Kerry and husband Steven Toole; son Brendan; and daughter Noreen. Ann was the most loving Nana to her seven grandsons John Wagner, Danny and Mitchell Moriarty, and Aidan, Liam, Collin, and Roan Toole. She will be greatly missed by her sister in law Jean Theis and the Lawless family, the extended Moriarty family, and most especially by her family in Ireland, Margaret Carberry, Sheila and Kevin Hughes, Elsie Kerfoot, sister-in-law, Jean Kerfoot, and dozens of nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
