Anthony R. Baxter

September 17, 1946 — November 24, 2021

Anthony Rykert Baxter, devoted husband and father, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on November 24, 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Anthony was born on Sept. 17, 1946, in Brooklyn, New York, to George Gordon II and Eugenie Baxter.

Anthony served in the United States Air Force for 6 years as a communications system radio operator. He transitioned to the Air National Guard, where he continued to serve another 12 years as an equipment specialist and air operator. As a civilian, he served as a proofreader for the Bureau of National Affairs (now Bloomberg).

Growing up during the space race era, Anthony was an avid fan of space exploration and Star Trek. He enjoyed watching action and history movies with his three sons.

Anthony was a devoted member of the Catholic Church. He served as a eucharistic minister at the Church of Resurrection in Burtonsville, Maryland and assisted in teaching children on the Catholic faith at Saint Bernadette in Silver Spring, Maryland. He also was a long serving member of the Knights of Columbus.

Anthony is survived by his wife, Vicky Baxter; his children, Charles, Michael, and John; his siblings George III, Paul and Gabrielle; and his five grandchildren.
