Tony was proud of his Italian heritage.  In fact, when asked where he was born, he would most often reply in that thick Italian accent, "Rome".  He was born in Rome, New York, while his Italian parents, Nicholas and Ellenora Carpineta, were staying with relatives in the United States.  His parents took him home to Italy when he was a toddler.

Tony returned to the United States when he was about 17 years old, where he enjoyed being an American citizen.  There was nothing he was more proud of than his years of service to the country of his choice, the United States of America.  He served in the Civil Conservation Core from January 1939 to December 1940, where he helped establish some of the country's national parks in New York and Montana.

Joining the U.S. Army in January 1941, most of his service was as a Gunner in Normany and Northern France during World War II; for which he received decorations and citations of American Defense Service Medal; European; European African Middle Eastern Service Medal; Good Conduct Medal; and Purple Heart.  PFC Carpineta's Army service ended with an Honorable Discharge in October 1945.  He continued to serve his country through civilian service when he began work for the U.S. General Accounting Office (GAO), where he worked for more than 30 years (from early 1950s to 1982, when he retired).

Tony is survived by his only child Gary Anthony Carpineta [Brenda Carpineta]; his two grandchildren Gary Allen Christopher Carpineta [Jennifer Carpineta] and Barbara Brink; two step-grandchildren Stefanie Matthews and Devon Matthews; three great grandchildren Nico, Marco, and Olive Carpineta; and three step-great grandchildren Jude, Autumn, and Alyssa Matthews.

The Carpineta Family wishes for memorial contributions to be made in Anthony's name to your local Hospice community.
