Anthony M. Rozario

July 29, 1929 — May 23, 2015

Anthony Marion Rozario passed away on Saturday, May 23, 2015 at the age of 85 in Riverdale, Maryland.  His last moments were at home surrounded by his loved ones.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Bina B. Rozario, his seven children, their spouses, and twenty-seven grandchildren.  His loving children are Helen Rina Costa, Jacinta Nioti Rozario, Lily Martha Rego, James Richard Rozario, Veronica Ratna Rozario, Joseph Roton Rozario, and Lucky Shabnam Samuel, along their spouses Bartholomew P. Costa, Himu M. Rozario, Santosh Robinson Rego, Eva H. Rozario, Denis Pobitro D'Rozario, Kakon Veronica Rozario, Reji Samuel Samuel, respectively.  He is also survived by his younger siblings, sister-in-law Romola Rozario, Sister Lourdes Mary Rozario, Renu Quiah and her family, Vincent Rozarion and his family, and youngest brother Dominic Rozario and his family, and many nieces & nephews, and many cousins.

Mr. Anthony Rozario was born in Bangladesh on July 29, 1929 to Joseph and Maria Rozario. He was the eldest son of seven and also the eldest of his generation. As the head of the household he began working selflessly at the age of twelve to support twenty joint family members.  He moved to New Delhi and Lahore, working in various hotels before eventually managing staff for India Railway.  In the early 1960's, he moved back to Dhaka to work for the United States Consulate.  Through his position with the United States Consulate, he came to the United States in 1974 and became an immigrant in 1980.  In 1981, he brought his wife and younger five of his children and became a resident of Riverdale, Maryland.  Later, the remaining two of his daughters came as immigrant with their families which completed his dreams of having the family together.

His home has since been filled with laughter, joy, and good memories.  He always enjoyed the company of family, friends, and neighbors and loved to serve creative meals to them.  His warm personality and creative culinary skills brought many families throughout our community together.  He has always expressed kindness, love and generosity to all those in his presence.
