Anthony M. Sefcik
Anthony Sefcik was welcomed into the presence of our Lord, Jesus Christ, early in the morning on February 16, 2024, at the age of 88. His children are grateful they were able to say their goodbyes and be by his bedside until he passed.
Anthony was an exceptional husband and father. He was married for 62 years to Theresa and together they raised five children. Anthony was a Navy Veteran. He was a DIY (Do It Yourself) guy before DIY was popular. Many facets of his house and property were designed and personally constructed by him including the driveway, carport, sheds, sidewalks, stone brick walls, finished basement, back porch, roof and gutter replacement and a renovated kitchen and bathroom. He worked on fixing his cars like a pro prior to one needing a computer to assess issues. Some of his favorite activities aside from his many home projects were reading the newspaper, going for long daytime drives, attending theatrical productions, watching his grandkids’ sporting activities, engaging in Bible Studies with his children, attending daily Mass and sitting in on morning Eucharistic Adoration as often as he could, and listening to Dr. Charles Stanley’s sermons.
Anthony is survived by a brother, John Sefcik, and five children: Lawrence Sefcik (Delfina), David Sefcik (Donna), Connie Key (Johnny), Janine Dolinka (Tim), and Marcia Gottesman (Seth). He was a doting and caring grandfather to 13 grandchildren: (Joshua, Elijah, Saraphina), (Kyle, Nicholas, Kalynn), (Daniel, Samantha, Brian), (Kendra, Jared), (Carrie, and Tyler). He was also a proud great-grandfather to eight great grandchildren (Jace, Carter, and Psalm), (Camden, Violet, Noella, Jude, and Calvin).
Anthony was predeceased by his wife, Theresa Sefcik, and his siblings, Margaret Slatca, Theresa Kolakowski, George Sefcik, Dorothy Zaykoski, Helen Wadis, and Joseph Sefcik.
Please pray for God’s comfort and peace for the whole extended family as they grieve the loss of their brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather.
The funeral service will be held Tuesday, February 27, 2024. Viewing at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 4902 Berwyn Road, College Park, MD at 11:00 AM followed by a eulogy, then a Mass of Christian Burial at noon.
