Barbara (Mcandrew) Crowley

Barbara Ann Crowley was born January 8, 1932 in Fall River, Massachusetts to Richard and Helena McAndrew. She passed away January 28, 2024 in Silver Spring, Maryland.

Mom grew up in Fall River and lived there until she left for Newport Rhode Island to attend college on a music scholarship. Concerned she may not be able to support herself with a music degree she double majored in Math (Accounting).

After graduation, Barbara married Tom Selleck and they lived in New York with their two children, Tom and Liz. Mom was a homemaker for much of her life in New York. She was an active member of our church, Our Lady of Victory, playing the organ or piano and singing in the choir. Dad worked nights, so, Mom made sure we got to sporting activities, scouts, school events, doctors appointments, and everything else we were involved in.

A few years after Dad passed away, Mom married Henry (Hank) Crowley and moved to Silver Spring, Maryland. With this union, Mom was blessed with four bonus children.

Mom and Hank were inseparable and Mom remained active in her church with Hank. They volunteered their time and energy to many charitable causes and still found time to go to the recreation center and the arboretum for walks in the garden. Hank passed away in 2015.

Mom was an avid reader, loved working the New York Times and Washington Post crossword puzzles every day, and loved working acrostic puzzles. Mom’s love of music, both playing piano and singing, were forever a part of her life.

Mom leaves behind six children, Tom Selleck and wife, Debbie, Liz Selleck, Kevin Crowley and wife, Jeri, Tom Crowley, Michael Crowley and wife, Donna, and Dennis Crowley and wife, Tamara. Mom also leaves behind seven grandchildren, their spouses and nine great grandchildren. Mom loved and was proud of them all.

Funeral arrangements were thoughtfully taken care of by Donna Borgwardt of the Donald V. Borgwardt Funeral Home with graveside services on Thursday, February 8, 2024 at Gate of Heaven Catholic Cemetery, in Silver Spring, Maryland.
