Barbara Anne Woodard, known as “Barb” or “Barbie”, passed away unexpectedly on January 18, 2024, at the age of 65 years. Barb was a caring wife, mother, grandma, sister, aunt and friend.
Barb was born February 13, 1958, to Errol and Laura Hammond of East Dixfield, Maine. After completing High School, she moved to Maryland where she attend and graduated from Washington Bible College. She started her working career in the medical billing field then transitioned to being an Elementary School Teacher at Lanham Christian Academy and Riverdale Elementary School. After teaching for many years, she completed her working career and dedicated her time to her family.
Barb married Leland Woodard on November 8, 1980. Together they have two children: Kari-Lyn Woodard-Hill and Kristopher Woodard.
Barb loved to plan social gatherings where she utilized her cooking and baking skills to host various parties. She enjoyed cooking for others and continued to use her baking skills with her grandchildren. The Holiday’s were her favorite times of the year; this was the time for her and her grandchildren to make a variety of cookies for people at church, her doctor’s and nurses and neighbors. Barb enjoyed reading books, visiting and collecting lighthouses, going to the beach, sewing, coloring, singing with her sisters and having her grandchildren around. Over the years, she became mom/grandma to many bonus children, she loved each one as her very own. Barb also loved her church ladies, she enjoyed spending time with them at their outings, at Sunday School and various church events.
Barb is survived by her husband, Leland Woodard; children Kari-Lyn Woodard-Hill (Roderick Hill) and Kristopher Woodard (Kenethia Glenn); grandchildren Christain, Keith, Kendrick, Chase and Harrison; sisters Cindy Savage (Jake Savage) and Tammi Becker (John Becker), brothers-in-law Stephen Woodard and Daniel Woodard, and many nieces and nephews and her bonus children and grandchildren.
Barb is predeceased by her parents Errol and Laura Hammond, her parents-in-law Clarence and Iris Woodard and her grandparents Hollis and Celia Smith.
