Calvin C. Peace was born on February 20, 1925. He grew up in Barbourville, Kentucky as the youngest of twelve siblings. His father, Thomas Peace owned a tobacco farm and a general store. His mother, Blanche Perkins, originally from Tennessee, was a homemaker. After graduating high school, Calvin moved to Washington D.C. where he met his wife, Mary Louise Gibson. They were married in 1947 and had four children. While in Washington, Calvin received his building management certification. He worked as the Chief Engineer for The Mayflower Hotel and L’enfant Plaza for the first 27 years of his career. He then worked for The Office of Thrift Supervision until his retirement in 1993. Calvin was a devoted husband and father who took great pride in everything he did. He continually took evening classes to further his career skills. He was a member of the Beltsville Seventh Day Adventist church and served as a Deacon for many years. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing golf, and he was an avid Washington Redskins and Kentucky Wildcats fan. Calvin leaves behind Mary Louise (Gibson) Peace, his loving wife of 69 years, who has been his health care advocate and caregiver. Also grieving his departure are his children, David (Carol) Peace, Roger (Paula) Peace, Diane (Bill) Geosits and Dana Brown. He is survived by five grandchildren, Brian Peace, Lauren (Michael) Harris, Michelle Geosits, Melissa Brown and Laura Geosits, and one great grandson, Hendrix Harris.
