Cathy Serra, 43 years old, of Greenbelt, MD died peacefully on September 22 after a courageous 5-year battle with cancer. She is survived by her loving husband of 16 years, Patrick; her children, Nicholas, Elizabeth, Jennifer, and Thomas; her mother, Margaret Kingston Waranowitz; her father, Benjamin Waranowitz; siblings, Abraham (Chieko), Anne Hawley (Brian), and George (Rebecca); numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Cathy grew up in Calvert County, MD. She graduated from Towson University. As a CPA, she worked in the private sector, for the City of Greenbelt, and Catholic University. However, Cathy’s avocation was as a devoted wife, mother, and faithful servant of our Lord Jesus Christ. Cathy was a parishioner of St. Hugh of Grenoble Catholic Church where she volunteered as a Sunday school teacher. Cathy was also an active fundraiser for the Girl Scouts of America.
