Catherine "Kate" Mcgeehan

September 11, 1959 — April 10, 2021

McGeehan, Catherine "Kate" On Saturday, April 10, 2021, Kate died peacefully at the Gilchrist Hospice in Columbia, MD after a long illness.

Beloved daughter of Alexander McGeehan (deceased) and Adrienne McGeehan; sister of Alexander McGeehan Jr. (Leslie), John McGeehan (Mary), Christina McGeehan Zepf (David), and Philip McGeehan (Dana Foster). Aunt of Natalie Zepf, Vincent Zepf, Susan (McGeehan) Gallogly, Jacqueline (McGeehan) Maiale, Alexander McGeehan IV, Jake Gallogly, Colin Gallogly, Alexander McGeehan V, and Elliot Foster.

Kate had earned two undergraduate degrees and a Master’s degree and was employed as the manager for electronic data storage for Johns-Hopkins Applied Physics Lab, first for the Central IT department, and later for the Space Department. She was also an active member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Beltsville Maryland where she served as a Eucharistic minister, served in the Alter Care/Linen Care Ministry, and when younger, sang in the choir. When Pope John Paul II celebrated mass in Washington D.C. in 1979 Kate was selected to sing in the choir for the mass. In addition, Kate served in the Community of St. Theresa Benedicta of the Cross (OCDS) having professed in 2015.

A funeral mass will be held on Monday April 19,2021 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church,11007 Montgomery Rd., Beltsville, MD. 20705. Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Silver Spring Md.
