Charles Emerson Hess Sr.

December 11, 1930 — April 26, 2023

Charles entered this world on December 11, 1930.

He was a remarkable, talented, witty, loving, bit of a prankster and (a little) head strong man of faith.

Among his many talents he was a novice artist, writer of poems, he singlehandedly built his first house, and could fix just about anything. He was fascinated with the working mechanics of things and was always up for the challenge of tearing something apart and rebuilding it, most recently the bed rails on his bed.

Chuck retired from GM as a millwright/machinist having gained knowledge and experience from previous employments. Many of his designs and fabrications became implemented earning him numerous awards.

At an early age he was shattered by the death of his beloved father. In one of his poems, he prayed that GOD would bring him joy again. He wrote of finding that joy when blessed by the birth of his 2 sons, Charles Jr and Barry. More blessings followed with daughter in law Wendy, 5 grandchildren... Bucky, Brandy, Bradd, Brianna, and Brentin, 10 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. Later in life stepchildren Bobby (Elaine) Evans, Lori (Ron) Skrutski, Patti (Ralph) Cribbs, 4 step grandchildren and 9 step great grandchildren were added to his blessings. GOD had blessed him with a lifetime of Joy. He loved his family very much and was proud of each and every one of them.

Through the years of life's ups and downs he was blessed to find the love of his life, Marlene, whom he affectionately called "Mar". They moved to South Carolina where they enjoyed the "Golden Years."

He grew in his faith attending weekly church services. His journey was blessed with many lifelong friends, traveling, weekly card games, and of course playing golf, even once shooting a hole in one.

Chuck lived his life to the fullest, his glass half full. Like the lyrics in a Frank Sinatra song, he did it "My Way"

He will truly be missed by his family and everyone who knew and loved him.
