Charles Edward Vannoy

October 18, 1924 — June 25, 2019

Mr. Charles (Chuck) Vannoy, 94, of Beltsville, Maryland departed this life on June 25, 2019 following a brief illness.

Mr. Vannoy was raised in Clarksburg, West Virginia. Upon his graduation from Victory High School he joined the United State Marine Corps. Chuck served as a Radioman/Gunner in Marine Bombing Squadron VMB-611 stationed in the Philippines during World War II.

After his military service Chuck attended West Virginia University and obtained his degree in Engineering. He worked for the Department of Energy, Bureau of MInes for many years as an Analyst. Chuck was a longtime member of Emanuel United Methodist Church, Beltsville, Maryland; serving on the finance committee for many years.

Chuck was a Master Mason, active in the Masonic Lodge, Shriners, and the Eastern Star. After retirement, Chuck drove for meals on wheels for several years. He was also active the Beltsville Young at Heart Club, the Laurel-Beltsville Seniors and the Moose Seniors.

Chuck was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 64 years, Jeanette (Freeman) Vannoy; daughters Jerry Vannoy Swank and Sherry Vannoy Robinson; son Charles Vannoy, Jr. and his wife Patricia. Charles also had numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and two nieces.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Borgwardt Funeral Home Chapel at 3PM on Thursday, August 8, 2019. Burial will be Friday, August 9th at 1:00 p.m. at Quantico National Cemetery with full military honors
