Christine S. Burger

Christine Sebastian Burger, 97, of Bowie, MD died Tuesday, August 26, 2014. She was born in Cannel City, Kentucky on August 21, 1917, the fourth of seven children. She moved to Washington, DC during World War II where she began a 32 year career with the Federal Government. She was preceded in death by her husband of 27 years, Charles I. Burger, Jr. For many years, Christine was an active member of the University United Methodist Church in College Park, MD. She lived her faith by providing service to many including driving for Meals on Wheels, acting as Treasurer for the Asbury Methodist Village Guild, and administering the Mother’s Day Out program. Christine is survived by her daughter, Mary Jane (Steve); granddaughters Stefanie (Phil) and Lisa (Justin); great-granddaughter Emily; and brother John of Ohio. The family suggests memorial expressions in the form of a donation to Bowie Assisted Living Inc., 12001 Lanham Severn Road, Bowie, MD 20720 where Christine was a resident for the past 12 years and received attentive and loving care. Christine will always be remembered for her love, generosity, and quick wit.
