Dale Lee Reed was born in Riverside, WV, the son of Dudley Leroy and Cynthia Pearl Reed. He was a graduate of Greenbrier High School in Ronceverte, West Virginia and after his graduation from high school he enlisted in the United States Air Force and was stationed at Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield, California as a medic during the Korean War.
After returning home at the end of the war he attended the West Virginia Institute of Technology in Montgomery, West Virginia where he studied Engineering. After several years of study he met and later married his wife of 58 years, Patricia Ann Goodall, and they settled down to start a family in Ronceverte, West Virginia.
The young couple moved to the Washington, DC area in 1962 so that he could continue his employment as an Engineer with C&P Telephone Company which would later become Bell Atlantic and most recently Verizon. He would retire from Verizon after being employed there for over 35 years.
He was a man who truly loved life. He enjoyed many sports including fishing, hunting, football, baseball, basketball and especially golf. He also put family first in his life attending countless school plays, musicals, concerts, sporting events and other family related activities. He was active with Boy Scout Troop 1693 of Adelphi in the late ’70’s. He was also a coach, working with teams in t-ball, baseball, and football.
He was a member of the Hillandale Baptist Church and more recently a member of First Baptist Church of Beltsville. His service while at Hillandale included being Chairman of the Deacon Board, Sunday School Teacher, Finance Committee Member, Search Committee Member, Trustee, and Bible Study attendee.
He went to be with the Lord on December 11, 2014, and is survived by his wife Patricia Ann Reed, children Steven Brian Reed (Deborah), Beth Ann Tanner (Thomas), grandchildren Kristen and Kirkland, his sisters Janet Dyche (Jay), Joanne Cohenour and his brother-in-law Leonard Orlosky and many other loved family members.
