Donald Allen White

Donald Allen White, age 91, passed away on June 15, 2023, in Silver Spring, MD, four weeks after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. He was buried at a private ceremony with military honors on June 23, 2023, at the Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville, MD. A memorial service will be held at the Riderwood Village Chapel (Silver Spring, MD) at a future date.

He is survived by his wife of almost 67 years, Elizabeth (Gill) White, son MacDonald (Mac) White (of Bowie, MD), daughter Dorothy (White) Albritton (of Rockwood, TN), and grandchildren Katherine White, Lucas White, Alexander White, Mark Albritton, and Jennifer Albritton.

Born in Oceanside, NY, August 29, 1931, Donald was the only child of Allen White and Lillian MacDonald White. After graduating from Baldwin HS in 1949, he earned a BS in Music Education from Hofstra University in 1953 and a Master of Religious Education in 1961 from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He earned a Master of Arts in Business in 1981.

He served in the US Army from 1954-56, after which he married his beloved Elizabeth (Ibby). It is said that they met at a USO event at which he was singing while she accompanied him on the piano. They've been making beautiful music together ever since!

From 1956 until his retirement, he held various jobs, including high school choral director. He was also a minister of music at various churches, high school English teacher, college real estate law and business professor, and real estate residential salesman. His interests included theology, human relations, and current events (as well as the best/worst puns and Dad Jokes galore!)

His favorite things were dining with his beloved wife, Ibby; their nightly phone conversations with daughter, Dorothy; and video conferencing with son, Mac, his wife, Fe, and their son, Alexander.
