Dorothy Ann (Taylor) Baluch

March 25, 1924 — October 14, 2014

She sleeps...somewhere over the rainbow. Please, no calls until the weekend. For every season there is a purpose, and a time for reflection. Dorothy Ann Baluch on this 14th day of October 2014 at age 90 joined her husband Fred in eternal rest. She passed at home in Greenbelt, Maryland surrounded by family and friends. Dorothy was born March 25, 1924 in Youngstown, Ohio, the younger of two children of James B. and Barbara (Styndl) Taylor. Among her ancestors were the Krejci and Skrivan families of Kraselov and the Styndl and Ptak families of Stare Sedlo in Bohemia, Czech Republic who immigrated to Cleveland, Ohio and Baltimore, Maryland in the late 1800's. Dorothy graduated Valedictorian of the class of 1942, Chaney High School in Youngstown and completed Registered Nurse training at Youngstown Hospital Association. On June 14, 1947 she married her childhood sweetheart Frederick Paul Baluch. In 1947 she and husband Fred moved to Glenn Dale and later Greenbelt, Maryland (Prince Georges County) where they raised eight children. Dorothy worked in the home while Fred worked as a teacher and later principal for the Washington, D.C. Public Schools. In 1981 they retired to the Rainbow Farm in Freeport, Ohio. Dorothy was preceded in death by Fred her husband of 65 years. Dorothy is survived by her sister Ruth Brown of San Diego, California, as well as her eight children, five grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter: Frederick P. Baluch, Jr. of Clinton, MD; Stephen J. Baluch of Ft Myers, FL; James T. Baluch of Norfolk, VA (partner Teri Esposito); Barbara Stevens of Front Royal, VA (spouse Patrick McCauley), and son Shawn Haines (spouse Rebecca and daughter Molly); Ruth M.
