Dorothy Inez Douglas, 96, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at Riderwood Village in Silver Spring. Her commitment to her faith, family, and friends carried her through this life.
Dorothy was born on October 15, 1928, in Philadelphia, PA, to Joseph and Emily Maley and was the sister of Joseph, Miriam, and Regina, all who pre-deceased her.
Dorothy's family then moved to Atlantic City, New Jersey. Dorothy's mother moved the family to Washington, D.C. at the start of World War II to follow her brother, Joseph, who took a position with the Department of the Navy. Dorothy met Charles (Buddy) Douglas at the age of 14 and they married in June 1950. They raised five children in Prince George's County and eventually moved to their beach home in Lewes, DE, that they were able to enjoy for several years before Buddy's passing in 2004. Dorothy then moved back to Maryland to the Riderwood Village community where she made many new friends and became involved in many clubs as well as being active in the Church of the Resurrection.
Dorothy is survived by Richard and JoAnne, five grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by her sons, Larry, Brian, and Jeff.
Death leaves a heartache no one can heal; love leaves a memory no one can steal.
