Dwight W. Glenn

Dwight Wayne Glenn, 87 on October 6, died on October 18, 2018 at a rehab center near where he lived in Adelphi, MD. He leaves his wife of 65 years, Joyce Stahl Glenn from Commodore, PA and his two daughters, Diana M. Kubu and husband Richard of Apollo Beach, FL, and Kristine S. Reilly and husband John of Commodore, PA, as well as 6 grandchildren; Michelle C. Shiffler, Matthew G. Goldey, Mark W. Goldey, Vanessa M. Stein, Sarah G. Northey, and Bonnie H. Reilly and 6 great grandchildren; Stetson G. Goldey, Aubrey V. Shiffler, Miranda G. Goldey, Landon J. Stein, Amelia M. Shiffler, and Blake K. Stein. He is survived by 3 sisters, Mary Kay Zieminski of Rocklin, CA, Margaret Lezark of Benicia, CA, and Cynthia Sparks of Owings Mills, MD and one brother G. Rogers Glenn of Shenandoah Junction, WV. Dwight was born and raised in and around Clymer, PA. He was the son of Daniel Gorman Glenn and Margaret McAdoo Glenn. He followed in his family footsteps going to IUP, Indiana University of PA, earning a B.S. in 1954 in Math and Science. He continued his education earning a M.S. in Physics from the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School, and a Ph.D. in Biophysics from the University of Texas. In his career of fifty years, half were spent as an officer in the US Army and the US Public Health Service. He was recognized as an expert in Radiology and was a former Head of the Radiation Physics Section of the National Cancer Institute, NIH, in Bethesda, MD. The latter half of his career was involved in being President of and running his own business, Mid-Atlantic Radiation Physics, Inc. based in Greenbelt, MD. He had a passion for hunting, traveling and reading. Though he was a man of few words, when he talked, people listened. Private memorial services will be held in PA in November.
