Edston Varoli Kirnon

August 3, 1951 — September 10, 2018

Edston Ali Valori Kirnon, son of the late Stephen S. Kirnon and Dorothy B. Wade was born on August 3, 1951 in Montserrat, British territory. He attended public school in the Bronx, New York and later attended Marist College in Poughkeepsie, New York.

Edston rededicated his life to Christ and he later used his lived experience with incarceration to advocate for men and women, who have been incarcerated or impacted by the prison system. Edston was a faithful leader in The Church of Christ, Right Now and he supported the church’s mission by leading the reentry program for men returning to the community. Edston utilized his testimony to shepherd men coming home from prison with compassion and dignity. Edston also shared his testimony to impact change by sitting on the Board of Corrections and he also co-lectured a class with Pastor Rebecca Stelle at Howard University.

Edston will always be remembered for his unwavering love and commitment to his wife Karen Jacqueline Wilkinson and his children; Elatisha Kirnon, Joseph Kirnon, Edston Kirnon (predeceased), Musa Kirnon and ChazVaughn Kirnon; grandchildren KiEssence Kirnon, Nailon Blair, Naticia Blair, Keilani Kirnon, Serenity Kirnon, Yusef Kirnon; great-granddaughter Nianni Curry; brothers James Kirnon (predeceased), Malcom Kirnon, Wynton Kirnon, Kirwade Kirnon (predeceased), Hillary Kirnon (predeceased), Eon Kirnon,  Starvos Andrew Kirnon; sisters Stephanie Kirnon, Sharon Kirnon, Sonya Kirnon, Catherine Kirnon and Dawn Kirnon-Aldrich. Edston also leaves behind a host of aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.
