Mrs. Edna Geraldine (Gerri) Briscoe was born on November 26, 1928 in Washington DC. She passed away peacefully at her home on Friday January 3, 2020, with her husband, Joseph L. Briscoe, at her side. In February 2020, they would have been married for 74 spirit filled years. Their courtship began shortly after Joseph returned from World War II. Joseph would ride the streetcar from Lakeland (College Park) to Beltsville to visit her. After several months of courting, Joseph asked for her hand in marriage. Their union produced a son Barrington and three years later, a daughter Sharon.
Gerri enjoyed spending as much time as she could with family and she enjoyed life to the absolute fullest. Some of her best times were spent with her sisters and in laws sitting in the backyard under the tree on Sundays eating crabs. She also had a passion for gardening, community service and travel with friends and family. Mrs. Briscoe enjoyed extensive travel within the United States and abroad with her husband. Some of their favorite places that provided numerous memories included the Bahamas, San Francisco, and Los Angeles. They even enjoyed the cold of Canada withstanding the frigid midst and chilly winds of Niagara Falls.
She is survived by her husband Joseph L. Briscoe, her son Barrington (Angerline), daughter Sharon, and Sister Margaret. She is preceded in death by parents Elisha and Mary Brewer, sister Evelyn Brewer, and Charlotte (Anthony) Bowie; brother in laws George Philip, Spenser (Alverta), and Donald (survived by Clarice) Briscoe, Sister in Laws Saxoline (Sherman) Campbell and Ruth (Anthony) Jackson. She leaves four grandchildren, Kimberly (Barry), Wendy, Tiffany and Nicole and three great-grand children, Alanah, Xavier and Ava.
