Elizabeth “Betty” Corrado, age 85, passed away peacefully following a long illness on May 28, 2014 at Community Hospice in Mandarin.
Born in East Durham, NY, Betty married Emil Corrado in 1951. They lived, worked and raised their family in Beltsville, Maryland until they relocated to Jacksonville, FL in 1995. She retired from Allied Signal, formerly Bendix Field Engineering where she had worked for many years as an Administrative Assistant.
Betty was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend. She was a faithful and active member of the Catholic Church where she sang in the choir, worked as a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and participated in Christ Renews His Parish or CRHP. Her hobbies included reading and needlepoint.
She is survived by her daughter Mary Emmel and husband Bruce of Colesville, MD; her son, Michael Corrado of Rockville, MD; sisters, Johanna Palmer of Bowie, MD and Eileen Van Hoomissen of Locust Grove, VA; brother, Father Bernard Ahern of Jacksonville, FL and many extended family members. Her husband Emil preceded her in death.
Relatives and friends may call Borgwardt Funeral Home, 4400 Powder Mill Road, Beltsville, MD on Monday, from 6 to 8 pm and St. Joseph Catholic Church, 11007 Montgomery Road, Beltsville, MD, on Tuesday, June 3, from 10 am until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
