On Monday, May 29 . Elmore R. Adams peacefully departed this life after a long, tiring illness.

Elmore was born on October 21, 1934 to Warner and Mazie Adams he was the youngest child of three . He had two sisters Hattie and Betty. He was raised in the Lakeland community of College Park, Md. After graduating from Fairmont Heights High School, he attended Bowie State and earned a B.S. Degree in History in 1956. He served his country in the Army for 5 years 1957-1963. He later earned a Masters Degree in Education from Bowie State University in 1971. Elmore met the love of his life, Charlene Salter at Bowie State University while taking a continuing education class. They wed in 1975.

Elmore went on to pursue a lifelong career in education. He began his educational career by teaching in Calvert County, Md. Elmore quickly realized his passion for teaching and held numerous positions within the Prince Georges County School System. He concluded his over 35 years teaching career as a Special Education Coordinator at HighBridge Elementary School. Elmore dedicated his life to his community mentoring, educating and inspiring countless students to pursue their dreams.

Elmore led an active cultural and physical lifestyle. You would often find him reading books from a variety of genres. He loved to discuss and debate world news and politics. Elmore cultivated an extensive library of DVD’s showcasing all the latest movies over the years. Elmore found joy in traveling,photography, spending time with his family and his many dogs over the years. Elmore has biked long distances, participated in a bowling league, went swimming and fished for pleasure. After retiring, Elmore spent his time golfing with P&B Golf Club. Elmore was a member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Mu Rho Chapter “The Baker’s Dozen” 9/24/65. Elmore was baptized and was a member of University Park Church of Christ.

Elmore was affectionately known as Pop Pop by his family. Left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife of 48 years Charlene Salter Adams, his two daughters Dawn Adams and Kristen Adams-Jones, his grandchildren Jerred Blake, Joshua Jones Jr., Kirsten Jones and Kira Jones, his son-in-laws Jerry Blake and Joshua Jones Sr., one aunt Merle Harris and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and other relatives and loving friends.
