Eugene R. Stratchko

Of Greenbelt, MD, was born on August 31, 1929, and passed away peacefully on September 1, 2014.  Gene was the beloved husband of Julia Stratchko for 60 years.  He is survived by his five sons:  David (wife Susan), Gary (wife Karen), Steven (wife Diana), James (wife Alecia), and Edward (wife Katy), and also his 11 loving grandchildren.  His strength of character was admired and cherished by many. He served with honor and distinction in the United States Air Force, worked for the National Security Agency for 38 years, and remained a lifetime member of the American Legion and the Elks Club. Gene was a man of great Catholic faith and an active member of St.Hugh’s in Greenbelt, MD. There will be a viewing on Thursday, September 4, 2014 , from 2:00 - 4:00 and 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. , at Donald V. Borgwardt Funeral Home, 4400 Powder Mill Road, Beltsville, MD 20705 . A mass will be celebrated on Friday, September 5, 2014 , at 10:00 a.m. , at St. Hugh of Grenoble Catholic Church, 135 Crescent Road, Greenbelt , MD 20770 .
