Eula Gay Puckett

May 3, 1944- April 5, 2021

Eula Gay Puckett returned home to her loving Savior, Jesus Christ, on April 5, 2021 at the age of 76. She was born in Ararat, Patrick County, Virginia to the late Lorna Ann Weatherman and the late Arlis Puckett.   She was the youngest child in the family.  Her older brothers were the late William, Jay Lee, and Ken Larry Puckett.  She is survived by her older sister, Chrystal Woodson, and her niece Janet Woodson.

Eula was loving and kind to everyone around her. She brought a smile to everyone’s faces.  You would always hear an “I love you!” and get a hug when you were with her.  She shared what she had with others.  She was frequently found in the lobby of her apartment building welcoming and talking to everyone who went by.

Eula was a home health care aid or private caregiver all her life. She loved to help ease the burdens of others.

Eula enjoyed celebrating her Native American heritage.  She would have friends take her to pow wows.  She made dream catchers and decorated her home with them.  She loved wolves.  Pictures were all around her apartment.  She even visited a wolf sanctuary and adopted a wolf.

Eula considered herself an artist.  She loved making and selling jewelry.  She would give gifts of jewelry to her friends, to the children at church, to the front office staff of all her doctors.  She also started screen printing t-shirts and selling them or giving them to friends. Mostly with wolves on them. She loved Christmas and would make her own wreaths.

Eula joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in 1997, where her ‘family’ grew. She ‘adopted’ many people as her children and grandchildren.  She had weekly visits with the missionaries after becoming a member.  She called them “her missionaries”.  They would share stories of faith.  She would talk about each individual years after they had moved on.  Their pictures were all around her apartment.

Eula loved food.  She had her favorite place to eat.  She loved Chinese.  She loved cheesecake.  She loved trying new ways to cook, like pressure cooker. For years on her birthday, a friend would take her to the Amish market to get goodies.  She talked about it for weeks.

Eula enjoyed singing.  She was in the choir at church.  She would sing to songs in the car.  She would sing over the phone with friends.  She would call people on their birthdays or on a holiday and sing to them. The song she sang most during her last struggle was, “Don’t Worry, Be Happy”.

Eula had great faith.  Everyone who knew her would say that about her.  She trusted in Heavenly Father to provide a way and strengthen her.  She trusted in Him when things didn’t work out the way planned.  She knew He knew what was best.  She knew it would all work out. You would frequently hear her say, “Prayers work miracles”.  Eula’s faith increased everyone’s faith.
