Flora Olive (White) Thompson

was born November 8, 1922 in Harlem Hospital in Manhattan, N Y.  She was the daughter of James Leonard White and Flora Mae Brown.She received her educational training through the New York City school system and married Rev. James Walker Thompson in 1938.  From that union they had three children, Valerie, Jane and James Thompson.  After many years of service, she retired from the US postal service. Flora enjoyed card games and was an accomplished bridge player.  She was one the founders of “ The Bridge Home” in Springfield Gardens, N Y.   They built a conference center and several senior rental units.  She often traveled on tournaments with the bridge club and won many trophies/awards. She loved to vacation and her travels included Europe, Hawaii, cruises to Alaska, Bahamas, the Caribbean Islands,  Aruba and numerous other places.  She also took many bus outings and enjoyed them even more when her daughter Valerie Jones retired and they traveled together. Her daughter Jane moved her to Patuxent River Center, Laurel, MD in July 2014 where she enjoyed participating in some of the activities . On June  9 ^th , she was reunited with beloved family members who had gone before her;  parents, James and Flora White,  sister Marie Ritzie,   James W. Thompson, son, Valerie Jones, daughter. She leaves to cherish her memories daughter Jane Grays, grandchildren Rodney Grays, Caran Bryant (Willie), Cheryl Grays, Michelle Thompson, Entric Hyde (Uroy).  Great grandchildren, Preston Grays, Kyle Grays, Jamar Bryant, Jenna Grays, Anthony Hyde, and Autumn Hyde.  Great, great grandson, Amir Grays, nephews, Shepherd Thompson (Helen) George Thompson.
