Frances Dolores Hagye passed peacefully in her sleep on May 3, 2018. Frances was born and raised in Harrisburg, Pa., and was married there in 1948. Her husband's new job took them and their young son to Hyattsville, Maryland in 1953. In 1955, they bought a house in the Hollywood neighborhood in North College Park, where she lived the rest of her life. Frances worked in several jobs during her career years, eventually employed for over 25 years in a long and distinguished career as Administrative Assistant to Maryland National-Capital Park and Planning Commission Executive Director, where she was highly influential in shaping parks policies and resources. She retired just in time to become a grandma, a role which she cherished until end of her life.
Frances was an athletic girl and enjoyed sports all throughout her life. She coached several College Park Girls Club softball teams to league championships, and was an avid bowler in several College Park leagues, always being among the league leaders in several categories. Frances' hobbies included watching her Washington pro sports teams, and crosswording. Frances will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all of her family, friends, and the many others she made laugh all throughout her life.
Beloved wife of the late William J. Hagye; loving mother of William F. (Marla Zalis) Hagye, Patricia H. Alcalde, and Michael A. (Joyce Davis) Hagye; cherished grandmother of three; sister of Rose Marie Ancheff.
