Grant Thomas Midkiff (Pop), 92 years old, of Beltsville, MD, died April 21 st , 2025. Pop was born August 18, 1932, in Hillsville, VA, to Willaim Oscar and Elva Mae (Alderman) Midkiff.

He attended school at Mine Branch School in Fancy Gap, VA, where he completed the 7th grade before working the fields, then moving to MD to join his brothers working drywall. He was drafted to serve in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955 ending his service as Corporal Grant Midkiff. He was sent to Germany during the Korean Conflict where he served under Company C of the 485th Engineers Battalion earning the National Defense Service Medal, the Army Occupation Medal (German) and the Good Conduct Medal (1953-1955).

Pop loved his pets, dogs Tilly and Peach and many cats. He loved playing his stand-up bass with his bluegrass band initially known as the Stringbusters, later Savage Bluegrass. He enjoyed his trips back to his mountain home every year. He enjoyed planting his vegetable garden, watching the weather channel, bird-watching from the front window, playing horseshoes, watching the Redskins, and Scratch-Offs.

He is survived by and is the cherished father of Janet M. (Jack) Carter, Kenny (Karen) Midkiff Sr, Donna (Bobby) Hofstetter, Teresa (Buck) Aplin, and Gloria Rayburn, Beloved Grandfather of Steve (Missy Duty) Hess, Valerie (Anthony Johnson) Midkiff, Kenny (Jessyca Reed) Midkiff Jr, Josh (Stephanie) Hofstetter, Jessi Mundey, Joe Camfield Jr., Jacob and Allie (Sean Ghafoor) Rayburn, loving Great Grandfather of Austin, Mason, Jaxson, Kyrston, Craig, Shawn, Shyann, Savanah, Chris Jr., Braydon, Vivienne, Steven, Eric, and Ryan, and many loving nephews, nieces, and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his cherished and loving wife of 64 years, Betty Jean Midkiff (2017), his brothers Bill Midkiff, Cecil Midkiff, Ray Midkiff, and Carlos Midkiff, and his sisters Arlie Moles, Bessie Bowen, and Ruby Goad.
