Helen Robinson Foster

Helen R. Foster, age 88, died on Sunday, February 17, 2019 in the Seasons Hospice Facility at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. She was born on July 8, 1930 in Washington, DC, the daughter of Earl J. and Adelena T. (Willis) Robinson. After graduating from Anacostia High School in Washington, DC, Helen started working at the Pentagon as a secretary. After leaving the Pentagon, Helen worked as an administrator, technician and manager at the National Security Agency for 39 years.

Helen enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, traveling with her family, gardening, taking care of her cats, playing & listening to organ music and playing the slot machines. There were three trips that were very special to Helen. She and her husband Jack went to Egypt and Israel, Russia and China. She always spoke of these trips with fond memories.

Helen was predeceased by her loving husband of 43 years, John (Jack) A. Foster III. Her two brothers, Kenyon Robinson and Earl Robinson, Jr. also predeceased her. Her son Sterling Foster and his wife, Cindy, daughter Juli Foster-Frey and her husband Bryan and son, John Alexander Foster, IV, survive Helen. Her four grandchildren Brian and Eric Foster, Maya and Zander Frey also survive her.

The Foster family would like to extend their gratitude to all of the staff at Hillhaven Assisted Living in Adelphi for their attentiveness and loving care. The family also wants to thank Helen’s Greenbelt friends who continued to include her in the weekly Breakfast Club visits after she moved to Hillhaven. The family is also grateful to the small group of friends at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in College Park who drove Helen to and from church on Sundays.

Funeral services will be held on March 16, 2019 at 11am at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 4512 College Avenue, College Park, Maryland. Following the service, a reception will be held in the St. Andrew’s parish hall for family and friends to remember Helen. Interment at Arlington Cemetery will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Helen’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
