Helen Louise (Krasauskas Rauscher) Morgan

Of Wilmington, NC and Silver Spring, MD passed away after a brief illness. Helen was born in Washington, DC on February 12, 1939. Wife of the late Bernard J. Rauscher of MD in 1988; mother of the late Michael P. Rauscher in 2010; wife of James M. Morgan of NC; mother of Bernard J. Rauscher 2nd (Francesca), and John C. Rauscher (Angela) of MD; stepmother of James M. Morgan, III (Sharon) of Greensboro, NC, Jonathan R. Morgan (Robin) of Atlanta, GA, and Christopher P. Morgan (Sara) off Crested Butte, CO; sister of Jacqueline M. Kramer of MD; aunt of Gregory A. Kramer (Deirdre) of MD; mother-in-law of Laura A. Pelosi of NY; grandmother of Michael & Laura’s son Lucas M. Rauscher of NY. Helen was also the “adopted” grandmother of Alexandra P. Morgan, Charlotte A. Morgan, Jonathan H. Morgan, Miles C. Morgan, M. Cole Morgan, Margaret E. Van Staveren, and Leigh L Noble.

Helen was a graduate of the University of Maryland and in her later years enjoyed a career at the school in the Department of Special Events. In addition to raising her family, she also taught art and was a Den Mother for Scouts. She spent most of her life in Maryland until her marriage to James. M Morgan in 2002, when she and Jim relocated to Wilmington, NC.

Helen enjoyed a very rich and athletic life. She loved tennis, ice-skating, biking, and skiing. As a student at High Point High School’s first graduating class, she was a cheerleader and ardent worker for both the student newspaper and 1957 yearbook. For many years following her marriage to Bernard Rauscher, she still enjoyed friends and activities in her Calverton neighborhood where she and Bernie raised their three sons. Calverton years and friends always remained among her fondest memories.
