Isaac Mckinley Creek

Isaac McKinley Creek, affectionately known as Ike, was born on August 1,1950 in Calvert County Maryland. As a young child Ike spent time on the tobacco farm with his mother, Virginia and grandmother Mary, along with the rest of his loving family.  Ike attended Southern High School where he was an all-around talented student. He had a knack for art and creativity at a young age. He was also a talented basketball player during his high school years.

After graduating from high school, he attended Bowie State University, formerly known as Bowie State College. Ike continued to dominate as a dynamic basketball player, while majoring in Art and Photography.   Ike graduated with a Bachelors of Arts degree in Art Education.

Ike was united in marriage with Arlene Gary and from that union he was blessed with two children, Ronnie and Anita.  As a young father, Isaac taught night classes at Bowie State and started his career as an art teacher at Eleanor Roosevelt High School in Prince George's County.  During those years Ike shared his love of art and photography by doing work on the side for family and friends. Whether it was a painting, drawing, wedding pictures, or building speakers, Ike was willing to put his talent to work.

Ike’s world changed again when his heart led him to marry his current wife, Debbie.  From that union he was blessed with another beautiful daughter, Medora.  Ike was well known as a subject matter expert on everything, but mainly for his skills on the grill. He ran a successful BBQ business for many years.  After 39 years in the classroom, Ike retired from teaching and became a full-time stay at home dad and grandfather.

Isaac loved his family dearly and spent countless hours with them making memories.  On a typical day you would find him running Medora to activities, visiting and taking his mother, Virginia to the store or doctor appointments, or picking up Little Lance from school.  Most times he would be at home perfecting his many recipes while teaching his children the science behind creating gourmet meals and outstanding BBQ. Ike was always cooking for someone; smoked turkeys for Thanksgiving, smoked salmon for Christmas, corn beef for St. Patty's day, Wednesday night meals for the church, and best of all restaurant quality delights for his family and friends.

On March 13, 2020 God needed Ike’s talents in heaven and called him home. He leaves to cherish his wife, Debbie Creek, daughters Anita Thomas (Lance), Medora Creek, son Ronnie Creek, grandson Lance Thomas II, granddaughter, Cara Johnson, mother Virginia Creek, mother and father in-law Joanne and Loran Guenther, sister Bertina Sharps, brothers-in-law Mike (Rose), Rusty (Tauni), Matt (Afua) sister-in-law, Betsy (Ashish), several cousins, nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
