Jean Marie Foster, aged 88, of Silver Spring, Maryland, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, June 18, 2017. Jean was born on July 11, 1928 in Boston, MA, the daughter of Rudolph and Mary (White) Marginot. Jean’s family moved from Boston to Cabin John, Md after her father started work in Washington, DC for the appeals board of the War Production Board in 1942. Jean graduated from Bethesda Chevy Chase High School in 1946.
Jean married her first husband in 1946 and three children were born of this union. Jean and her husband separated in the late 1950s. She re-married in 1961. One son was born of this union. In addition to raising her children, Jean enjoyed playing golf, bridge, and bowling. She was an avid reader of mysteries, and her enjoyment of music ranged from Patsy Cline to Luciano Pavarotti. Later in life, Jean adored travelling and had many adventures exploring places all over the world.
Jean is best described as a “social butterfly” and was very well known and loved in the Riderwood Community, where she lived for nine years.
Jean is survived by her children, Robert H. Davis, Jr. of Takoma Park, Janet M. Hildebrand of Marion, Virginia, and James M. Foster of Bumpass, Virginia; a brother, Charles F. Marginot of Vienna, Va; a sister, Phyllis Revis of Panama City Beach, Fl; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Mrs. Foster is preceded in death by her husband, Paul G. Foster; daughter Deborah J. Kelly; and seven siblings.
A memorial mass will be held at Riderwood Village, 3110 Gracefield Road, Silver Spring, Md 20904 on Thursday, June 22, 2017 at 11:00am. She will be laid to rest with her husband, Paul Foster, at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
