John M. Coleman, age 80, passed away on December 8, 2017 after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease.

John was the middle of three sons born to Winifred and William Coleman, Sr. He was born in Washington, D.C., but spent most of his adult life in Beltsville, where he was a volunteer fire fighter and chief for the Beltsville Volunteer Fire Department for 28 years. John was elected into the Prince George's County Volunteer Firemen's Hall of Fame on September 17, 2010. He was retired from Ampex. John loved to cook and could often be found tinkering in his workshop, but what he loved most was fishing with his brother and taking camping trips to Kerr Lake. John was always the joke teller at the family gatherings and kept everyone laughing.

He is preceded in death by his younger brother, Richard Coleman, and his parents. He is survived by his brother, William Coleman, Jr. (Shelby), nieces, Patty Donnelly, Susan Morris (Tyree), Cheri Lewis, and great nieces and nephews, Tommy and Lauren Donnelly, Phillip and Marlena Lewis, William Morris and devoted caregiver Michael Ahenkora.

Donations in memory of John Coleman may be made to the Beltsville Volunteer Fire House, 4911 Prince George's Ave., Beltsville, MD 20705.
