Mr. Joseph “Joe” Victor Reyes Borja died peacefully on May 10, 2020 in Columbia, MD at the age of 66.
Joe was born on July 22, 1953 in Guam to Joaquin Flores and Magdalena Reyes Borja. In 1971, he enlisted in the United States Army, in which he served as a helicopter mechanic. He married Angie Pangelinan in San Diego, California. The couple then moved to Austin, Texas with their daughter, where Joe began working as a nuclear technician. The family later moved to Northern Virginia, where Joe worked for the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority as an electrical engineer. Over time, they welcomed two more children, three grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. After retiring in 2014, the couple later settled in Ellicott City, Maryland. His family remembers him as a kind and generous soul, always ready to make someone laugh and smile.
Joe is survived by his wife, Angie; two children Krystina and Joseph “Kindo”; three grandchildren, Gaetano, Christopher, and Alyssa; two great-grandchildren, Charles and Shane; and ten siblings, Mary Ann, Richard, Anthony, Mario, Linda Rose, David, John, Rosalina, Frank, and Gloria. Joe will join his parents, parents-in law, sister, Avalina, and daughter, Trisha, in heaven.
The family would like to thank the hospital staff and caregivers at the Washington DC VA Medical Center, Howard County General Hospital, and the Gilchrist Center Howard County.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a memorial service is not permitted, but will be held at a later date. A private viewing will be held at the Donald V. Borgwardt Funeral Home in Beltsville, Maryland, followed by a private interment at the Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville, Maryland.
