He married Dorothy “Dottie” in 2003 and embraced her two children Kimberly and Heather along with four grandchildren, Taylor, Tyler, Travis, and Colton.

Joseph was born in Augusta, Georgia, on September 19, 1955, to Joseph and Barbara. He graduated from DeMatha Catholic High School in 1973, where he proudly wore football jersey #68 and built friendships that lasted a lifetime. He also attended Montgomery Community College.
