Lawrence E. Wharton

Our beloved Dr. Lawrence Wharton peacefully passed away in his home on September 14, 2023, at the age of 76. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Normita Wharton; his daughters, Jennifer Wharton and Marybeth Wharton; his grandson, Jamison Wharton; his brothers, Donald Wharton and William Wharton; sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nephews, nieces, and other loving family members. You will always be our hero, not just to our family but to your colleagues and community at NASA. His achievements and work will continue to benefit society and research for years to come as your work and legacy will never be forgotten. Not only will your contagious laughter be missed, but also your wicked sense of humor, your generous and kind heart, and your stunningly brilliant mind. Your carpentry skills, though, not so much. We love you so much, and we will see each other again.
