Lewis C. Beasley, Sr.

Lewis Carroll Beasley was born to Charlie and Dorothy Beasley on February 13, 1960, in Waynesville, NC. He is survived by his parents and brother, Jerry; his wife, Mary and six children, Cody, Amber, Amir, Marcus, Brittney, and Lewis; 13 grandchildren, and dog, Mr. Peeps. Lewis was a man of wisdom and action. His life bore the fruit of his love and dedication to the Lord.

During his service in the US Army, Lewis earned his GED. Lewis had a curious mind, and over the years, he continued his education earning various certifications and pursing different passion projects. Lewis faithfully served in many ministries and organizations over the years. He delighted in providing support and meticulously carrying out the details in the background. Lewis dedicated 37 years of service to the Federal Government. After retiring in 2020, Lewis spent his days caring for his family and contributing to building the foundation for his son’s demolition and hauling company.

Lewis and Mary met in the early days of their careers at the VA. Lewis worked diligently to secure his place in Mary’s heart as Mary fervently prayed for the Lord to remove Lewis from her life. In due season, God turned Mary’s heart towards Lewis and radically turned Lewis’s heart towards the Lord. In March 1996, Mary and Lewis dedicated their lives to one another, forming a holy union and expanding the bounds of their earthly family. They lived out their promise of “growing grey hair together” for 25 years.

Lewis's legacy is permanently etched into the memory of those that love him. He is known to zoom around the area in his beloved truck, “Mustard” giving rides and hauling items for anyone in need. He was a lover of the Raiders, good music, and massive Bubba cups full of ice water. He was known to have a listening ear available and as one who freely gave gems of wisdom.

Lewis’s children remember their father as someone supportive and loving. He knew how to keep things light and was quick to crack a joke, make a silly face, or do a little dance. Lewis placed value in thinking things through. He urged his children to read the fine print, ask many questions, and be prepared. Following Christ’s example, Lewis faithfully served and sacrificed himself for his family until his last days.

In Lewis’s home office, there is a large sign that has Proverbs 16:9. “The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.” Lewis lived his life yielded to the Lord. He cherished all that was placed before him and unwaveringly trusted God’s plans. During trials, many knew him to say, “This day did not catch God by surprise.” May his life inspire us to trust in the goodness of who God is and his plans for our lives. May we be faithful stewards of all that lies before us until the days that we are called home.
