Louise Margaret (Hilgenberg) Divver

Louise Margaret Hilgenberg Divver (107) of Germantown, MD departed this life on September 8, 2023.

Born June 19, 1916 in Washington, DC, Louise grew up as the fourth of 12 children born to William and Anna Hilgenberg. Louise married Leo Vincent Divver in 1935 and raised their 4 children in
Washington, DC. In addition to being a homemaker, she helped with her husband’s business, Vince’s Tavern at 615 8 th Street, NE, before working for Merkle Press from which she retired.

She was a devoted member of the Catholic Church and lived her faith every day through her actions. Louise treasured her family. She was faithful, caring, strong, feisty, witty, and sharp minded (even on her final day). Throughout her lifetime she enjoyed dancing, duckpin bowling, playing card games, going on cruises and spending time with family and friends. Louise was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother; family was her joy.

Louise was predeceased by her husband, Vince (1977); her cherished daughter Ethel “Sissy” Louise Ayres (2003), son-in-law Peter Ayres (2013); her daughters-in-law Carol Divver (2018), Jean Divver (1995) and grandson Andrew Divver (1992). She was also predeceased by her parents William and Anna, as well as all of her 11 siblings: Margaret, William, Anna, Catherine, Adolph, John, Edward, Joseph, George, Leonard and Albert.

She is survived by her 3 sons: Vincent “Shorty”, Joseph “Turk” (Pat) and John (Sherri). Louise leaves of legacy of 17 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren.

Great-grandchildren: Alyssa and Lauren Jones; Michael and Sean Divver; Julia, Diana, and Brendan Rach; Hank and Mae Greeves; Brian (Rachel) Ayres, Lisa Ayres, Stephanie (Kevin) McKeown, Mark (Mary) Ayres, Michelle Welsh, Justin, Jessica, and Jack McManus; Jake and Josh Ayres; Rilley Keaveny, Shea (Sarah) Keaveny; Jackson, Kevin and Nolan McEachin, Kaitlyn Sroka, Vinicius and Lorraine Barbosa, Caroline, Andrew, Luke, Matthew and Julia Divver, Brittany, Ashley, Jackson and Kelly Divver, Cassius, Aries, Genesis and Atlas Divver.

Great-great grandchildren: Lucy and Henry Ayres, Emma McKeown, Collin and Charlotte Keaveny, Daniel and Dallas Barbosa.
