Marie L. Miller

On September 6, 2016, Marie L. Miller (nee Gallagher) passed away peacefully after a nearly two-year battle with cancer. She fought the cancer with all the determination and strength that she lived her life.

She is survived by her loving son Scott Justin Gallagher, her parents Charlotte and Bernard H. Gallagher, sister Madeline Mitchell (David), brothers Bernard W. and John Gallagher (Jeanine), her niece Juliana, nephews Blaine, John, Austin and Alexander, great nieces Kayla, Owynn, and Billie Lou, great nephew Kael and her beloved and loyal cat, Blackie, who all loved and cherished her.

Marie grew up in Landover Hills and Beltsville, MD with stops in Greenbelt, MD and Woodbridge, VA before moving to Tampa, FL.  Marie recently retired from the Department of Justice after over 38 years; 28 years with her Tampa DOJ-US Attorney’s Office work family. She was an accomplished paralegal and dedicated public servant. She took many new employees under her wing and gave them the benefit of her wide and varied experience.

Marie was a quick-witted, loyal and generous person as well as a talented crafter, cook, hostess, shopper and spoiler of children. She looked forward to planning and going on birthday trips for her mother, “Nan”, along with her sister and sister-in-law. They also cherished their day after Christmas shopping. Her friends will miss her annual holiday cookie parties, card parties and her home that was decorated for every holiday. She created unique gifts for many including jewelry, costumes, holiday ornaments, scrapbooking and so much more.
