Of University Park, MD died at home of ocular melanoma on November 25, 2015. He was 73. He was a plasma physicist at the Naval Research Laboratory for over 40 years, a graduate of Stuyvesant High School and Harvard University, receiving his PhD at the University of California, Berkeley. At NRL, he was an award winning scientist, and he was past chairman of the Division of Plasma Physics of the American Physical Society. Devoted to causes for persons with intellectual disabilities, he served several terms as president of board of the Arc of Prince George’s County and was past president of the board of By Their Side. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Lampe and children William Lampe and Bekkah Lampe (Erik Lauridsen). He was buried in a private family service.
