Mary Louise Fisher, age 81, of Greenbelt, MD, passed away on May 4, 2024. She was born on June 27, 1942 in Washington, D.C..
Mary Lou was a Speech Pathologist in the PG County school system for over 30 years. After retiring, she went on to become the ADA Coordinator at the Kennedy Center, where she discovered a passion for audio description, which she would proceed to turn into a second career. In her free time, she loved painting, making jewelry, feeding the local birds and squirrels, spending time with her cats, and being an honorary mother and grandmother to her daughters’ friends and their children.
After her retirement, Mary Lou found time to explore a new passion through her volunteer work in the FossiLab at the Smithsonian Natural History Museum. She made a lot of new friends and was able to indulge her nature as “people person” and revive one of her childhood interests.
Mary Lou had a lifelong love of theater, and produced, directed, stage managed, as well as acted in, numerous plays and musicals throughout the MD and DC region. It was through theater that Mary Lou met her second husband, and father to their two daughters, Ben.
Mary Lou is survived by her daughters, Laura Anne Fisher (Bill O’Brien) and Trina Fisher (Ryan Daniels). She was preceded in death by her husband Benjamin H. Fisher and her parents Thomas and Marie (Moore) Ridgely.
