Michelle Alise Gogan

August 14, 1987 — December 26, 2024

Michelle Gogan was born on August 14, 1987 and died suddenly on December 26, 2024, at the age of 37. She was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. Michelle was treasured by all who knew her, leaving behind an enduring legacy of warmth, kindness, and light. Michelle was a radiant, outgoing, pure soul who loved people deeply. She had an extraordinary memory for the small details of others’ lives - their names (first, middle, and last), birthdays, how many siblings they had, their pets and their pets' names. Even decades later, she could recall these details about people she hadn’t seen in years, demonstrating the genuine care and attention she gave to everyone she met. Her gift for connection made her unforgettable. Michelle was the third of six children and adored by her siblings and parents, who cherished her open, pure, enthusiastic love. She had an immense capacity for love and joy that she freely shared with those around her. Michelle’s bright smile would light up the moment she saw someone she cared about. She'd wrap them in a big hug, give them a kiss, and say, "I missed you so much." When it came time to say goodbye, she always asked, "when I gotta see you again?" No one ever left without a heartfelt goodbye. Michelle graduated from The Ivymount School in Rockville, Maryland, where she was adored by her teachers and classmates for her kindness and ability to bring happiness to those around her. She later attended the SEEC day program for people with developmental disabilities, where she made meaningful connections, contributed to her community, and was valued by staff and peers alike. She will be so terribly missed by her parents, Peter and Jacqueline Gogan; her siblings, Claire Girouard, Aimee Gogan, Samuel Gogan, and Zanne Gogan; and her siblings’ partners, André Girouard, Kevin Hoffman, Courtney Gogan, and Lindsay D’Andelet, all of whom she welcomed as cherished siblings.Michelle was a devoted and loving aunt to her nephews, Joël and Henry. She loved them fiercely and she loved being Aunt Michelle. Her nephews will always remember her gentle love, effusive enthusiasm for their presence, and the joy she brought into their lives. Her loss is all the more tragic as it follows the passing of her younger brother, David, just three months earlier. She often spoke of loved ones who had passed away and would lovingly sing Happy Birthday to them in heaven. Michelle deeply cared for David, who was disabled, and often expressed her concern about who would take care of him in heaven. She made sure David's yahrzeit candle was lit every night in his honor. Michelle’s life was full of plans and dreams for the future. She loved small adventures, like trips to Brookside Gardens followed by falafel sandwiches, going to the movies and having popcorn and a Diet Coke, outings to Target for accessories, going swimming, listening to her favorite songs on repeat in the car, and celebrating even the smallest joys in life. She had a knack for making ordinary days special, with her unique blend of mischievous humor, boundless energy, and infinite love. Michelle’s passing leaves an immeasurable void for her family and all who knew her. She was a shining light in a sometimes dark world, and her absence is felt deeply. Michelle was pure love, pure joy, pure kindness. She will be loved and missed more than words can ever express.
