Norma D'Sena Shires

October 28, 1932 — September 7, 2014

Age 81 , of Silver Spring, MD,  died peacefully at her home on Sunday September 7, 2014. Beloved wife of Pastor Reginald Shires, together they served in Seventh-day Adventist Churches in India, Pennsylvania, Maryland and Virginia; mother of Juanita, Michael, Donn and Robert.  She was founding president of the Anglo-Indian Association in Maryland. As an RN she served at several area hospitals. Her work as a nurse among rare tribal youth in West Bengal, India, down from Bhutan, is well told in the book “TheLeopard’s Call: An Anglo-Indian Love Story.” Relatives and friends may call at the Chapel of  Riderwood Village,3110 Gracefield Road, Silver Spring, Md. on Friday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at 11:00 AM. with Pastor Franklin G. David, Senior Pastor at Southern Asian Seventh-day Adventist Church officiating. Interment George Washington Cemetery.
