Patricia Fulcher

November 2, 1944 — January 15, 2025

Patricia Kalec Fulcher.

Passed on January 15 th, 2025.

Born on November 2, 1944 in Douglas, Georgia. Patricia was the second

daughter of Gertrude and George Kalec. She was preceded by both her parents and her grandson, Seth

Ammon Rieker. Patricia is survived by her husband, James Kenneth Fulcher, her sister Nancy Marion

Gerstel, her six children, Ian Christopher Fulcher, Megan Esther Rieker, Kirt Drew Fulcher, Jared Golden

Fulcher, Owen Garr Fulcher and Gwynn Valentine Fulcher, as well as eight grandchildren, and two

great-grandchildren. Patricia graduated in 1962 from High Point High School and went on to attend the

University of Maryland, from which she graduated with a degree in Elementary Education. She married

her high school sweetheart James on June 29th, 1968 and eventually settled to raise her family in

Beltsville, Maryland.

Pat, as she was known to her many friends, joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and

lived a life of service, beginning with her family, then to her faith, and finally to the community from

whence she came. She taught elementary school at institutions all over Maryland, most notably St.

Joseph’s, Our Lady of Sorrows, and Calverton Elementary, where she touched thousands of young lives

with her passion for education.

At church, Sister Fulcher, as she was known by her congregation, served in a multiplicity of service

capacities, including – but not limited to – Primary School, Youth, Scouts, where scores more got to know

her love, kindness, knowledge, and utter joy of living life.

With all these accomplishments, Pat identified with being a mother perhaps the strongest. She read to

her children every night and championed them in their scholastic careers as many went on to university

and wide-spread disciplines that ranged from computer science to the fine arts. As they grew and

blessed her family with grandchildren and eventually great-grandchildren, so too grew her joy and

wisdom. She was a vibrant and integral part of her ever-expanding family right up to the very day of her

passing. She was 80 years old.

Her funeral will be on Friday the 24th at the LDS Church at 7200 Contee Rd, Laurel, 20707. The viewing

will be between 10-11am, and the service from 11-12.

In lieu of flowers, feel free to donate to the

American Cancer Society in Pat's name.
