Patricia Anne Molden

December 4, 1950 — September 13, 2016

Patti Madden Molden, Age 65, of 5-J Eastway Road, died peacefully on September 13, 2016, after a very brave battle with lung cancer. Patti, daughter of Greenbelt pioneers Anthony and Catherine Madden, leaves behind her son Anthony (Tony) Molden and daughter-in-law Sharon, her daughter Rebecca (Becky) Weaver, and seven grandsons, Adam and Nicholas Weaver, and Jake, Alex, Colin, Anthony and Nathan Molden. A great-granddaughter (Bristol Kay Weaver) is due to be born imminently of parents Adam and Ashley Weaver. Patti was predeceased by her sister Mary Doman, and is survived by her sisters Kathleen Madden Dunleavy and Therese Madden Stringfellow (Dr. Frank) and her brothers Martin G. Madden (wife Julie) and Michael G. Madden.  She is also survived by fourteen nieces, nephews, and her former husband William Molden.

Patti was an active member of the Greenbelt Community.  She was involved in the Greenbelt Boys and Girls Club, CYO President of St. Hugh’s Catholic Church, and PTA President of Eleanor Roosevelt High School.  She was also very active in the political world, proud to serve as Treasurer in her brother’s successful legislative campaigns. Patti was an Associate Agent with Nationwide Insurance Company, following in the footsteps of her brother and her Dad. Patti thoroughly enjoyed and treasured her co-workers and serving her esteemed customers.  Patti was known for her great sense of humor and for her warm heart.  She often served as a surrogate mother, not just to her family, but to other young members of the Community.  She was always there to lend an ear or offer that "Patti" advice that we will dearly miss. Patti lived for others.  She gave of herself incessantly in her desire to see others pleased.  Patti provided a home for her Mom and Dad in the senior years of their lives with love, devotion and humor.  She was a selfless loving person and a beautiful model for her family and for all others in her world.
