Philip Keller

March 24, 1951 — June 5, 2019

Philip Keller passed away at age 68 at his home in Silver Spring, MD on June 5, 2019. Philip was born in Washington, DC on March 24, 1951 to Celia and Charles ‘Red’ Keller, the only boy among three red headed sisters, and grew up and spent most of his life in Silver Spring, where he later raised his three sons Joshua, Benjamin and Avi. In 1996 he married Elena, his wife of 23 years.

Phil always had a twinkle in his beautiful eyes, a genuine smile on his face, always ready with a quick funny retort and had a never ending supply of silly jokes. He loved to travel anywhere in the world. In other words, he had that certain joie de vivre. He loved to build or work on his growing number of computers throughout the house and was often heard to say, “I’m reloading Windows.”

Phil never did anything in half measure. He was a dedicated husband, father, friend and employee. – loving, loyal and hardworking. He was loved by all who knew him, or just met him, as a pillar of wisdom, intelligence, strength, determination and with his own definite sense of humor. He will be long and lovingly remembered.

Phil is survived by his wife Elena; his sons Joshua, Benjamin, Avi and Michael; his daughters-in-law Sherri and Heba; his grandchildren Jake, Elliana, Heather and Sean; and by his sisters, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Respects and stories can be shared at his Celebration Gathering on Saturday, June 15th from 2:00 to 5:00 pm at Borgwardt Funeral Home in Beltsville, MD. Donations in Phil’s honor can be made to the American Heart Association or to the Public Broadcasting Service.
