OBITUARY Prince Peter Kangoma was born on November 2, 1948 in Freetown, Sierra Leone to N’gardie Conteh and Thomas Kangoma. Prince as he was commonly known was an altar server at the St. Anthony Church where he attended the parish primary School for boys in Brookfields, Freetown.

After completing five years at St. Edwards Secondary (High School) at May Park Kingtom, he did his sixth form, a two-year extension of Secondary (High School) education at The Albert Academy on Berry Street; both in Freetown.

SCHOOL MOTTO: “DIRIGENOS IN VERITATE”

Following an assignment as a teacher in the Northern province of Sierra Leone, he decided to attend the Seminary in Nigeria where he studied for six years. In 1979, Prince moved to the United States to attend graduate school. He later graduated from Iowa University with a double masters’ degrees in Philosophy and Public Administration. It was here that he met and married the love of his life, Rita Lund. Together, they moved to Laurel, Maryland.

Prince was employed by AMTIS Inc. in its corporate offices at Lanham, Maryland until his death. He was loved and respected by his co-workers.

Prince lived a very active life. He loved to play tennis and hang out with family and friends. He was a “super fan” of his beloved Chicago Bears football team. He loved to joke with his fellow “Redskins” and “Vikings” friends about who was the better team.

Prince is preceded in death by his parents N’gardie Conteh and Thomas Kangoma, four siblings, (Thomas, Edward, Phebean, and Margaret).

Prince leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Rita and his son Daniel Thomas Kangoma (Gloria); Brothers - Patrick Kangoma (UK), Joseph (Shaft) Kpaka (SL), and Solomon Vandi (USA); Sisters - Jabu Kpaka (SL), Memuna (David) Kemoi (USA) and Zainab Kamara (USA); a beloved Aunt, Freda Tourkara, a host of nephews and nieces, family and friends, including Sia Gborie-Brown (Maxwell) (USA); Frederick Udo (Alice); a close cousin, Michael Akpan (Carleen), and a very good friend Foday Sesay (Kumba)

His gentle nature and smile will be dearly missed. His presence will always be felt as he lives on in our hearts. Rest in Peace Brother Prince!
